This integration document will deal mainly with how Cattura Video uses and stores your lecture capture on the Kaltura servers. If you would like to delve deeper into Kaltura please visit their site.

Start off by logging into your Kaltura account by clicking on the link located at the top right of the Kaltura main page.

Once there you will notice seven tabs at the top. Of the seven tabs I will only go over Content, Studio, and Settings since those are essential for Cattura integration. Settings will be used for obtaining Cattura Capture Cast  publishing values. Then we will move onto Studio where we will find out how to create customized players to view your lectured. Finally in Content we will be able to access your entire library of saved captures.

As with most settings pages here you can customize how your Kaltura account is setup.  But for Cattura Video publishing  setup this is where you will obtain four key values Kaltura URL, User ID, Partner ID, and Admin Secret.  Partner ID and User ID (the email account you logged under) will both be found in the Account Settings tab on the left hand side of the screen. While Admin secret will be found on the Integration Settings tab.  The Kaltura URL will  just be Using these values you can now set up the publishing sources under templates for both the hardware and software.

In the ‘Studio’ tab on the right hand side you are given different player types to select from. For all non-experienced Kaltura users I recommend using the “New player-Single Video’.  Under this option you can access different settings that will add your personal touches to each video viewed that player.  As of this moment only the Capture Cast ProTM users will be able to add plugins that will allow access to metadata such as Optical Screen Recognition and Screen Change Detection which is optionally captured during lecture processing. To set up these plugins please go to the Kaltura Plugin page here where you will find a much more in depth setup guide. If problems occur with the plugins please re-enter the values found in the document above and make sure your are using a template with the metadata options enabled.

Depending on the amount of videos you have uploaded to Kaltura the Content page can be a little daunting to search through. Luckily they have filter parameters on the left hand side which make it’s use very simple. While Kaltura is processing your upload you will be unable to view the current upload. As soon as the status turns to  “ready” then your video will be available for viewing. To edit the settings and information for a particular video just click on the underlined name. Users can  view and delete the video by using choosing the option under the action button. When viewing you can select which player to use on your video, either your custom players or kaltura basic players. Found at the very bottom of this view screen you will find the embed code which will allow you to place this particular lecture on a website of your choosing.

After covering these three pages you have experienced the basic operations between Kaltura and Cattura Video. Again I reiterate if you would like to learn more about Kaltura and all of its services please visit their site and read their support documentation.
